What To Do When You’re Waiting for Footage

What do you do when you’ve met with a great agent, they’re interested in you, but they want to see your latest footage? You don’t have control over when the footage is ready but you don’t want to lose this opportunity. Watch this week’s Acting Business Bite to find out how to keep that connection going, regardless of when the footage is ready.

Let me know how you reached out in a similar situation, with honesty and adding value. What were the results and how did you feel taking that action?

Thanks for the info, Dallas! I woke up this morning with this same thought. I just wrapped on a project here in Austin and I won’t be able to get my footage until March 2013. Keeping agents, casting directors, etc. in the loop is always a good thing for a lasting relationship. :)

I like your video about footage.I don’t have a problem with waiting on casting directors, agents,or film producers.I
find it very compatible. However it is frustrating that they don’t respond fast enough because they don’t tell you exactly when the footage is available,They just give you a date.So so far Ive been
patient but I think the the whole idea is really good.I just did a project in Orlando and Im enjoyed the first experience on set.

Richard, I understand that it can be frustrating to wait for footage after you’ve completed a project, for sure! The post-production process can be very time consuming.

Hi Dallas! Great video! Considering the time of the year, could you do a business bite with some dos and don’ts for giving holiday gifts to cds/agents? Would be super helpful!

Thanks for the video, Dallas. This reminded me of my own situation in which I self-produced a short film in collaboration with a director, and have been waiting on that footage for over a year! I know progress is being made steadily but VERY slowly…do you have any advice on this?

  5. VIP advice. Just got back from trip and will be doing this weekend!
